MY BOAT STORY...
When I was little, my family did a lot of fishing in the Gulf on my dad's little pontoon boat. My best memory of this was once feeling a tug on my line, expecting another run-of-the-mill trout or flounder, but pulling up a shimmering, shiny silver eel instead! It was a sight I'll never forget. He was wiggling like crazy and so, so shiny.

MY BOAT STORY...
One time my husband and I went on a 6-hour fishing trip with about 40 strangers. Except the trip was really a 10-hour trip that turned into a 12-hour trip because we couldn’t find the right fishing hole. We figured this out about 4 hours into his trip, when we were still heading out to sea and hadn’t stopped to fish yet! Oh well. We just laughed and ate the snacks that we had luckily brought along. We somehow still love boats though!

MY BOAT STORY...
I'm a sailor. I learned to sail in boy scouts, fell in love! Then worked for many summers at YMCA Camp Grady Spruce teaching sailing to campers. Eventually, I obtained my USCG skipper license! I sailed the British Virgin Islands on a 50 foot catamaran. I continue to support Camp Grady Spruce sailing by providing training for sailing counselors and maintaining the camp's sailing fleet.

MY BOAT STORY...
My favorite boat story involves being strong enough to pull a boat to shore--as it was floating away in the ocean! I won't mention any names (though I might point to my husband and the husband and a very good friend). Anyway, we rented a boat one day in Florida, and said unnamed men got out, swam to shore, and went on a hike with all the kids while my friend and I sunned on the beach without a care in the world until we looked up to see that our boat was floating away--far, far away. We swam out, discovered it had not been anchored, and we drug that whole boat to shore--because the men, of course, also kept the keys with them!

MY BOAT STORY...
One of my first times working at camp, some of the younger campers asked me to canoe with them. I was put in the middle of the canoe, and they pushed us out into the lake. I asked the campers casually, "so, have you done this before?" They replied, "no," and "I think I saw it on tv once!" It was a miracle we ever got back to the dock.
